JOIN US FOR OUR SEVENTH ANNUAL TURKEYS IN THE TRUNK
Food Drive at Harpers Porsche – Saturday, November 18th
The Smoky Mountain Region PCA, with support from Harpers Porsche, is sponsoring its seventh annual Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit the Salvation Army and the Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM).
In the first 6 years of this event, the Smoky Mountain Region PCA has collected 13,419 pounds (6.7 tons) of food and has received $16,525 in contributions. In weight, that’s equivalent to 4.5 2023 Boxsters!
Through the efforts of our great and generous members, the Smoky Mountain Region PCA is clearly making a difference to those less fortunate in our community.
For those of you who have not been to “Turkeys in the Trunk”, this is how it works: First, you load your front trunk, your back trunk (if you have one), your roof rack, your passenger foot well…. or wherever there is space available, with frozen turkeys, potatoes, canned vegetables, yams, non-perishable food items and the rest of the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal. Then hop in your “stuffed” P-Car and drive to Harpers on Saturday, November 18th between 12:00 and 1:00 PM. Friendly volunteers will be on hand to assist in the unloading and weighing of the food. You’d be surprised as to how much food you can actually stuff into your P-car! We will be set up in the rear parking lot behind Harper’s Car Wash located across Parkside Drive from the dealership. In the event of rain, we will move inside.
Why weighing? Well, the person bringing the most food in each category will win a special prize donated by the Smoky Mountain Region PCA. In the interest of fairness, there will be two categories; 2-seat models and 4-door/SUVs. In addition, cash donations will be accepted at this event and checks can be made out directly to either the Salvation Army or the Knox Area Rescue Ministries. While technically not a 2-seater, for this competition, 911’s will be lumped into the 2-seater category.
Turkeys in the Trunk is always a fun event for us! Please come join and help us continue to make an impact. Penne and I have found that this is a great way to kick off the Holiday season.
