Turkeys in the Trunk – 2017
Please join us on Saturday, November 18, 2017 for some fun at our first annual “Turkeys in the Trunk” charity event. The event supports both the Salvation Army and the Knox Area Rescue Ministries in their effort to collect food for the Thanksgiving season.
Stuff your turkeys and other non-perishable Thanksgiving type food items in your trunk (or trunks for you Boxster and Cayman drivers), passenger seat, floor boards or wherever there is space inside your Porsche. Then drive your stuffed Porsche to Harper’s storage/detail building, across the street from the dealership. We’ll gather at Harpers (a generous sponsor of this event) between 12 and 1 PM and weigh-in everyone’s food, and enjoy some refreshments. The member who brings the most food will win a really nice prize donated by Harpers.
Ideally, food collected at this event can be turned into the basis of a typical Thanksgiving meal and will used by the Salvation Army and the Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) in the preparation of Thanksgiving dinner for those less fortunate. Cash donations will be accepted at this event and you should make your check out to the Salvation Army or to KARM.
In the interest of fairness, the competition will include some guidelines. First, the food has to be loaded in a Porsche. Secondly, we will have separate 2-door and 4-door categories for the heavyweight competition. (Fill foot well’s up too!)
This will be a fun afternoon for all and it’s a great way to help kick off the holiday season, while helping others as well.
After the prizes have been awarded, we will meet at nearby Parkside Grill for lunch and fellowship.
Thanks to Bob and Penne Baugh for putting this together.
