On Saturday, July 14, 2018, the Smoky Mountain Region will hold a Poker Run, so save the date. The $15/person proceeds from this event will be directed toward our Club Charity Fund. For those not familiar, a poker run is an organized event where participants drive a predetermined route, stopping at five checkpoints along the way to draw a playing card. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the drive.
Both driver and passenger can play a hand ($15 each). Proceeds from this event will be directed to the Club’s charity fund.
We will meet at the Flying J on Watt Rd at 8:30 AM. Everyone will be provided with a map and detailed driving directions. Following a briefing and drawing their first card, cars will begin departing at 9 AM. Rather than everyone leaving at the same time, participants will depart every 3 minutes.
The 70 mile route will take everyone down Hwy 70 to Kingston, then down Hwy 58 to River Rd. We will follow River Rd to Keylon Hollow Rd then back to Hwy 58. Following Hwy 58 to Hwy 72 to Hwy 11 bringing everyone to Lenoir City and Calhoun’s. We have reservations for a late lunch at Calhoun’s and awarding of the winning hand!
For planning purposes and to let Calhoun’s know how many to expect, we’d like to start pulling together a roster. If you plan to attend, please email Bob & Penne Baugh at baughbob@yahoo.com and let them know how many will be attending and buying a hand.
Thank you,
Bob Baugh
PS: We’ll need at least 4 volunteers, 2 at each checkpoint, and they can work 2 checkpoints, so please consider working the event! It is a lot of fun and you can see how things work.
