What do you get when you mix lower than normal springtime temperatures, twenty drivers, an airport site, and 20 hungry for attention Porsches? Why, an autocross of course!!! This time it was at the Greeneville Regional Airport, on the tarmac in front of the main hangars. Master course designer, Rick Berry, and his dutiful assistants put on a challenging 44+ second course. Much time was spent by Rick, Rick Brooksbank, Steve Kidd, and others to make sure it was both safe and fast!
The first cars got out around 1015, and the final runs of the day were at about 145. The 4/10 mile course was a strong second gear one, with much room to escape if you missed something! The event was attended by the mayor of Greeneville, who loved what he saw, and wanted to make sure we were coming back!
The ladies FTD was Suzan Bowman with a best time of 45.999. Steve Kidd brought his freshly purchase Cayman S to the event, and went home with the men’s FTD trophy, posting a time of 42.142. The average best time for all classes, was 44.34 seconds.
Thanks and kudos go out to all who attended, and spectated at the event! A special thanks to Rick + Janis Berry, owners of Eurotech, who support the Regions autocross series. And since Top Dog’s van died, we took him for a spin in a Porsche this year. After that, we headed home for some much deserved naps.
