Porsches & Pontoons – August 19, 2017
On Saturday, August 19, 2017, about 20 of us descended on Black Oak Marina in Jefferson City for a day on Cherokee Lake. This TVA impoundment of the Holston River behind Cherokee Dam was just beautiful that day: cool temps, not crowded, and very scenic.
We start with a light continental breakfast, then we boarded four pontoon boats.
We took a short cruise on the lake, past the dam, saw some nice houses, then we anchored in a cove and tied the pontoons together. Then swimming, snacking, and socialing ensued. There was a touch and go moment with one motor refusing to start, but Ric merely stepped aboard and his King Midas Touch fired it right up.
After more cruising and more swimming, we gathered together at the marina for an afternoon snack/meal, and a “refreshment” or two. Again, many thanks to Vic Rola for setting this up, thanks to all that showed up, and many thanks to our boat Captains, Vic, Rick, Clyde, and “Hot Dogging It” Nic.
We will do this again!
