FALL 2018 DRIVERS EDUCATION

SEPTEMBER 15, 2018

We had an outstanding DE at Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP). This 2.0 mile road course offers a challenging and safe venue for the club. We had about 35 drivers in Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Instructor level, and many thanks to those that ran this DE and the instructors that made it possible.

Many of us converged on Dawsonville Friday night, hung out, ate and socialized, then it was off to the track early Saturday morning. Check-in, Tech Inspection, and briefing went well… for herding cats, but we got all sorted post haste. After that, each of the four groups had four track sessions through the day. It was a safe day, only a couple found the sand trap, but no injuries, no damaged cars, and some good “teachable moments”. The weather held out, considering Hurricane Florence was beating down on the Carolinas, and only the very last session was impacted by rain.

This was a great opportunity to explore our cars on a great course in a safe and fun environment. We all learned a lot about driving and these fine vehicles. Thanks for coming out, and many thanks again to all that made it happen! For more information on DE’s, please check the PCA website.
