JULY 13, 2019
We did a day drive, just after the Cancelled Board Meeting. We met up at the Harper Detailing Building, signed the papers, got our wristbands, got briefed, then hit the rode at 12:30pm. Weather was iffy, so some tops went right up, some had to hastily secured not soon thereafter. We toured the nice roads towards and bypassing Oak Ridge, then promptly got on the Devil’s Triangle.
Not soon thereafter… the sky fell out! Luckily it was on the more sedate front half of the triangle, then things cleared up for the back half. After the fun run, we landed at the Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary for pit stop and little shopping (MOONSHINE!!). Then we headed through Petros and discovered some new roads between there and Harriman and the Melton Dam.
About 4ish we all arrived at the Melton Dam Campground Picnic area for eats and socials. Burgers and dogs and fixins’ were ready (thanks Bob & Penne & Vaughn & Louise!), and we all brought sides. Food abounded, as did good times. Almost 30 folks showed up!
Was a good drive, a fun pic-a-nic, and a great time! Thanks to John & Linda for setting this up!
