HEARD ‘ROUND THE ZONE – DECEMBER 2018

Members of PCA’s Zone 3…

My term as the Zone 3 Representative ends on the 31st of December.

It has been my honor, and sincere pleasure, to serve as a Zone Representative, representing PCA’s Executive Council, to the Regions, and to you, its members in Zone 3.  PCA began asking me to serve as a Zone Representative, ten to twelve years ago.  But I couldn’t deliver the time needed, until I retired.  Caren Cooper asked me to serve, and I did so, reporting to her for the past four years.

In the two, two year stints of service, I’ve had the distinct pleasure of meeting many of you, mainly at events throughout the Zone…from the Virginia line to the Florida line, and from the Atlantic Ocean, to the Mississippi River.  Most recently, at The Hilton Head Concours.  The four years have really flown by, as have the miles on my Cayenne GTS!

As I write this note to you, I think about the new friends made, and the good ones lost … many of both, and way too many on the ‘lost’ side…

Volunteerism is what drives PCA.  Many of you have stepped up to the plate, volunteering to chair an event in your area, whether it be a drive-out (the most popular PCA event, nationwide), an autocross, a rally, a multi-day weekend, or even parking cars at Porsche Platz during Petit LeMans.  Some of you have even made that additional commitment to serve as a Regional officer.  To those of you who have volunteered, continue to volunteer, or are planning to do so … THANK YOU!  Without you, we would not be able to function as a club.

In leaving the post of Zone Representative, I do so with mixed feelings … on the one hand, I’ll miss getting out to the many events offered in Zone 3, but on the other hand, I look forward to renewing my association with my home region – the Smoky Mountain Region.

Finally, please allow me to wish you a very happy holiday!  If you’re travelling…be safe.  If you’re staying close to home, enjoy your time there with family.

See you at the next PCA event!
