Zone 12 (Florida) invites you to their ‘Oktoberfast’ … at Daytona International Speedway, October 26-28. There will be rolling registration dates, starting now. Registration for the Autocross is already open on ClubRegistration.net; the Advanced DE registration will open in mid July; and the Club Race will open in September. Registration for the OktoberFast Autocross is now open on ClubRegistration.net. It’s your chance to literally be in the middle of all the action of the OktoberFast DE and Club Race as you compete in the AX on the fun and adventurous Kart Track, right at NASCAR Turn 3. After you enjoy each run on the paved kart track, you can just sit back and watch all the cars race by on the Daytona track, while taking it all in with family and friends. Citrus Region will be running the AX, and it will be their 7th AX in the annual series.
Returned from the Porsche Parade at Lake of the Ozarks, MO. To say it was hot, is not saying enough…whew!!! Saw many Zone 3 folks, many from my home Region of Smoky Mountain. Some event winners from Zone 3, included…concours…Chip Perry (Peoples Choice)…1951 356; the Lepirs (1st in Class)…the Myers (1st in class)…1963 356C; the Bakers and the Kjellsens (2nd in class). In the TSD Rallye…the Rabenecks (2nd in class); the Bakers (3rd in class); the Baums (18th in class). In the autocross…Jack Baker (1st in class), Jim Cambron (1st in class), and Danny Saxton, (2nd in class).
Zone member Andrew Ellsom is hosting an ‘on-line’ racing series. Andrew: We’re just about to start our second season on July 10th and we’re looking to increase participation. Basically we host on-line races on PC and Xbox between PCA members. There are 6 races in a season and 3 sessions a week, every other week. It is open to anyone of any age or skill level and is free to participate. We have registration for our Project Cars 2 sessions (Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7-8pm ET) on ClubRegistration.net (https://clubregistration.net/events/signUp.cfm/event/9166 (Xbox) & https://clubregistration.net/events/signUp.cfm/event/9165 (PC)) and for our Saturday iRacing league it is on members.iracing.com where we have a Peachstate PCA Sim Racing league. This season we’ll be racing at Road Atlanta, Sebring, Silverstone, Road America, Monza and Donington Park in the 911 RSR, 911 GT3 R and 991 Cup Car.
Congratulations and a ‘tip of the hat’ go out to the members of the Appalachian Region! They were the first runner-up to the annual Region of the Year award handed out at Parade. Over a dozen Regions put in their names for the award. Congrats to APR on the recognition!
The Alabama Region would like to invite you to join them at the fantastic Barber Motorsports Park for their Fall Driver Education event on October 20-21. This is their 15th year of holding DE’s at BMP. If you have never been to Barber you are in for a real treat. Known as the Augusta of race tracks, Barber hosts the IRL IndyCar and MotoAmerica Road Race series and is home to the Porsche Sport Driving School. The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum houses the largest motorcycle collection in the world. The track at Barber is a 2.38 mile, 17 turn road course with over 80 feet of elevation changes. It is a beautiful layout that is challenging and exciting. What better place to bring your Porsche and see what you both can do in a safe and controlled atmosphere. Introducing the Peachstate PCA Drivers Ed Experience
Have you participated in a few Autocrosses and would like to see what it feels like drive on a world class race track? Concerned about the time commitment, and entire weekend, for a Driver Education Event, which you may not like?
Peachstate Region has a solution for you! For those of you that would like to have a preview of a Driver’s Education event, Peachstate PCA is offering a partial day Drivers Education Experience at Road Atlanta.
How much does it cost? $100.00 [this includes a rental helmet so you do not have to buy one]. Non-PCA Members registration cost is $135.00
Who can participate? Any licensed driver 18 years of age or more can participate. Participating vehicles are not limited to Porsches. All participating vehicles must be either approved by the Chief Tech Inspector as generally roadworthy or have a valid state registration. Motorcycles and off-road vehicles are not allowed.
What will I experience? Drivers Education Experience participants will attend a 30-minute classroom session, ride in your instructor’s car, and drive your car on Road Atlanta with an instructor sitting in the car. There will be NO passing.
What is the time commitment? The Drivers Education Experience will take most of the morning Saturday. You will be done around lunchtime.
What else should I know? You will be required to sign both a Road Atlanta and PCA insurance waivers to enter the Road Atlanta grounds. No additional passengers are allowed. Seatbelts MUST be worn while on track.
This event is limited to the first 15 people who sign up. Registration will be open 8/1/2018 on Club Registration.
