Forty Fifth Anniversary Smoky Mountain Region

April 20th, 1974

This year marks the 45th Anniversary of the founding of the Smoky Mountain Region of the PCA. Originally chartered on April 20th, 1974, the Smoky Mountain Region included 24 counties in eastern Tennessee, centered on Knoxville. This region was carved out of the Tennessee Region with the full approval by and best wishes from the then much larger Tennessee Region.

The Charter Officers were elected and then approved by National, and include a few familiar names even 45 years later.

  • President: Ralph Holterhoff
  • Vice President: Charles P. Gault
  • Secretary: Cecelia Tiller
  • Treasurer: David I. Grab

On July 7, 1978, the Wilderness Trail Region was formed by taking the eight most northeastern counties from the Smoky Mountain Region. This region is still going strong up in Northeast Tennessee.
