Asheville Driving Tour 2026

August 21-23, 2026, Asheville, NC

Our weekend August Driving Tour to Asheville, NC, was great fun! About 30 club members wended their way to Asheville (on their own) and we stayed at the very nice Indigo Hotel adjacent to the historic downtown area. A catered social was held at District 42 (after a run through some sideways rain) and then we were on our own for the evening out. A bunch of us ended up at Wicked Weed brewery for apps and good local brews.

Saturday saw us crashing the Appalachian Region’s Cars & Coffee Concours held at the Prescott Auto Reserve: If you ever get a chance, GO! Quite the collection of cars. By 10am we were on the road for a 90 driving tour through the Pisgah National Forest and on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Only one glitch there as half the group got separated then took a wrong turn somewhere (“No, your OTHER right!”), but we regrouped at the pit stop and were on our merry way again.

Saturday evening we were on our own again, and groups dispersed throughout the historic downtown area for dinner. Some amazing “Redneck Cioppino” and other dishes were sampled, and some music and dancing ensued. Sunday was on our own, and some took the Newfound Gap route on US 441 through Great Smokies NP, and it was a beautiful Sunday Drive with little traffic.
