August 2016 Drive Out to Blowing Rock, NC
The weekend of August 20, 2016, we saddled up about 22.5 Porsches and headed to Blowing Rock for Food, Fun, and Driving. We took over the Blowing Rock Inn for the night, after a soggy drive from Knoxville and a nice pic-a-nic lunch at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area.
Sunday, we moved on to Asheville via the Blue Ridge Parkway where the drive out ended. But first, we took a little detour on The Devil’s Whip.

The club took the place over!

Wandered into town, and were forced into this pub by the rains…

View from the top…

-
Cleared a little
-

At the top! That is the new observation tower, and Elisha Mitchell’s grave, the professor who first noted the mountain’s height.
